Leicester City Turned Down £70m Deal from Manchester United for This Player

Manchester United was turned down even after willing to pay 70 million Pounds to get the service of Harry Maguire. The amount wasn’t enough for Leicester’s manager to sign a deal.

Manchester United is in dire need of an exceptional center-back to reform their defense line. Manchester United was finished in the sixth position last season, and their defensive line was conceded 54 times. This number is the worst for The Red Devils since 1978/79 season.

Despite the fact that it was turned down, some considered that the number was out of the roof. Paul Mariner, a former Arsenal striker, said that Harry Maguire is not worth the money. As cited on an article from express.co.uk from an interview conducted by ESPN FC, Paul Mariner said

“Is he worth that money? Of course he’s not,”

“But the market’s crazy. We speak about Van Dijk when Van Dijk went to Liverpool, was he worth that?

“Well it proves that he is worth it because they won the Champions League and that’s a massive plus for them.

“But is anybody worth this type of money? We’re talking about defensive players.

“So let’s go through his skill set. Is he a good one on one defender? Not bad.

“Can he get turned? Yes. Is he quick? No.

“He brings the ball out from the back, yes, very good. Positionally what’s he like? He’s decent in both boxes.

“That’s not £70m for me though. That’s when you start talking about elite central defenders in the world.”

The deal is getting more and more to the south considering the player’s preference. One big downfall for Harry, if he plays for Manchester United, is that he couldn’t play in Champions League, an event that no player wants to miss on. Furthermore, United’s rival is also showing an interest in the player. Even though there’s no decisive move has been reported, it is most likely that City is waiting for the right time to strike a decisive deal.
